Op 5 september 2006 zou Freddie Mercury 60 jaar oud zijn geworden. Freddie verwierf met de groep Queen een legendarische status. De groep scoorde vanaf 1974 zo'n 22 top tien hits waaronder het legendarische "Bohemian Rhapsody" (1975), "Somebody to love" (76), "We are the champions" (77), "Crazy little thing called love" (79), "Under pressure" (met David Bowie) (81), "Radio Gaga" (84), "A kind of magic" (86), etc.
Freddie Mercury overleed op 24 november 1991 aan de gevolgen van Aids.
