Vintage pop band Donna Blue released their new single ‘Desert Lake’. It’s the first new music since the release of their second 7 inch EP earlier this year, after which they’ve been busy playing multiple festivals this summer. The song comes with a cinematic video, which captures the ambience of the song perfectly.
Recently Donna Blue announced a tour through Spain in December, for which tickets are on sale now.
The creative duo behind Donna Blue, each other’s muse, lover and band member, plays sultry indie pop under the influence of sixties ye ye and old Hollywood romance. Their new single ‘Desert Lake’ is a song about the badlands every artist needs to cross while they do their work. It was loosely inspired by the Henry James quote “We work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.” - This means that no matter how beautiful it is to create things, it will forever come with doubt. A fear that someone else is better, that you can do better, a fear that everything you do is worthless. Your task as an artist is to work through that and to not let it distract you. Desert Lake was written as a kind of soundtrack to a non-existent movie about someone who mysteriously disappeared in that madness of art.

Vintage pop band Donna Blue heeft de nieuwe single ‘Desert Lake’ uitgebracht. Het is de eerste nieuwe muziek na release van hun tweede 7 inch EP eerder dit jaar, waarna ze druk waren met het spelen op meerdere festivals in de zomer. Het nummer komt samen met een filmische video uit, die perfect de sfeer van het nummer vangt.
Recentelijk kondigde Donna Blue door Spanje aan in december, waar tickets nu voor te koop zijn.
Het creative duo achter Donna Blue, elkaars muze, grote liefde en bandlid, speelt zwoele indie pop beinvloed door sixties ye ye, Lynch-films en oude Hollywood-romantiek. De nieuwe single ‘Desert Lake’ gaat over de badlands waar elke artiest doorheen moet tijdens het creatieve proces. The rest is the madness of art.” - Hoe mooi het ook is om iets te maken, het zal altijd hand in hand komen met twijfel. De angst dat iemand anders beter is, dat jij zelf beter kunt, dat wat je doet waardeloos is. Jouw taak als kunstenaar is om daar doorheen te werken en je er niet door af te laten leiden. Desert Lake is geschreven als een soort soundtrack voor een niet-bestaande film over iemand die op mysterieuze wijze verdwenen is in die madness of art.
