Dredg komt uit Los Gatos, California en bestaat sinds 1993. Ze spelen progressive/alternative rock. De groep bestaat uit Gavin Hayes (zang), Mark Engles (zang), Drew Roulette (bas) en Dino Campanella (drums) en heeft een reputatie opgebouwd met het combineren van kunst in hun muziek.
De groep bracht in 1998 haar debuut uit, getiteld "Leitmotif", waarmee ze een een stevige basis legden in de indie-scene in eigen land en het bezorgde hen een deal met Interscope Records.
In 2002 verscheen het album "El Cielo", gevolgd door de DVD "Crickets" in 2003, "Catch Without Arms" in 2005, en de DVD "Live from the Henry Fonda Theater" in 2005 en juni 2009 het album "The Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion".
Het nieuwe album "The Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion" heeft in de Billboard album Top 200 inmiddels positie #71 gehaald en momenteel toert de groep uitgebreid door de USA (juli - okt 2009).
Van het recente album is het nummer "Information" zeer radio-vriendelijk en kansrijk te noemen. You Tube
