Het uit Liverpool afkomstige trio the Wombats, in Nederland bekend geworden door hun single ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’ (2008) brengt eind september een nieuwe single uit, gevolgd door hun tweede album.
De single is getiteld "Tokyo (Vampires and wolves)". Het album verschijnt enkele weken later. Titel van het album is nog niet bekend.
Het album debuut "The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation" verscheen in 2007. De band is buiten Engeland vooral erg populair in Australie en Japan.
Het nieuwe album werd deels opgenomen in Los Angeles samen met producer Jacknife Lee.

The Wombats return with new single and album
The Wombats have announced details of a new single and confirmed their second album will be out this year.
The Liverpool trio will release new single Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) on 27 September.
It will be followed by the release of their yet to be titled second album at the end of 2010.
Their debut The Wombats Proudly Present… A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation, spawned singles like Kill The Director and Moving To New York.
The album is part-recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jacknife Lee.
