Zanger/gitarist Gary Louris vergaarde het respect van de media en vele fans met zijn bands The Jayhawks en Golden Smog. "Vagabonds" is Gary’s solo-debuut. Het album is mede geproduceerd door Black Crowes frontman en longtime fan Chris Robinson. Ook doet Chris samen met Susannah Hoffs (Bangles) en Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley) achtergrondzang op de titeltrack van het album.
