De Australische groep Silverchair heeft 28 oktober maar liefst vijf Aria Awards gewonnen tijdens de uitreiking van de 21-ste Australische ARIA-awards (Australian Recording Industry Association Awards). Silverchair werd onderscheiden in de categorieën van "Single of the year", voor 'Straight lines', "Album of the year", voor hun meest recente album 'Young modern', "Best Group", "Best Rock Album" en "Highest Selling Single" voor "Straight Lines".

Sinds Silverchair in 1995 is er geen Australische band meer geweest die de rockscene zo op z'n kop heeft gezet als Wolfmother. Andrew Stockdale (gitaar & zang), Chris Ross (bas & orgel) en Myles Heskett (drums) zijn alle drie werkzaam in de creatieve sector wanneer ze elkaar in Sydney ontmoeten. Na jaren oefenen brengen de drie eind 2004 een eerste EP uit. Het succes verspreidt zich als een olievlek. Het in Los Angeles opgenomen debuutalbum haalt in thuisland Australië naast lovende kritieken...
