Music On Vinyl is proud to announce it has added a new partnership to its roster. V2 Benelux has exclusively licensed a number of their international releases to Music On Vinyl who will release them on their trademark 180 grams audiophile vinyl. Music on Vinyl is a vinyl only record label that releases high quality 180g LP and 7" vinyl pressings of titles licensed from a wide range of record companies and artists who control their own repertoire.
The first releases to celebrate this collaboration are the late Solomon Burke’s Nothing’s Impossible, to be released in January 2011. Set for early 2011 is Ed Kowalczyk’s Alive, to be followed later on in the year by Dweezil Zappa’s Return Of The Son Of…
Solomon Burke recorded Nothing’s Impossible with Willie Mitchell in his famed Royal Studio in Memphis in late 2009. This record, 35 years in the making, unfortunately turned out to be one of the last projects either of these legends would work on. Willie Mitchell passed away in January 2010, while Solomon Burke passed away on the advent of his European tour in October 2010.
While Music On Vinyl and V2 had long planned to make this album their first collaborative project, they are now even more aware of its historical importance, and will make sure that it receives the care and attention it is due.
Ed Kowalczyk proved with his solo-debut Alive that he truly was the creative mind behind the band Live’s success. And with Dweezil Zappa’s tribute Return Of The Son Of…, he has again succeeded in introducing his father’s work to a larger audience. These albums will also be released early 2011; Dweezil Zappa’s album will even be released on 3 LPs in a special 7mm thick sleeve.
