Icoon en muzikale kameleon Cyndi Lauper zal op 21 september haar elfde studio album ‘Memphis Blues” via Naïve records uitbrengen.
Op dit blues album hoor je Lauper samen met blueslegendes als Allen Toussaint, B.B. King, Jonny Long en de oud-muzikanten van de huisband van het Stax label. Het album is geproduceerd door Scott Bomar en gemixed door William Wittman.
“This is the album I’ve wanted to make for years,” aldus Lauper. “All of these beautiful songs, and all of the great players on the album, were carefully chosen because I’ve admired them my entire life. And I knew from the moment Alan Toussaint hit the keys in ‘Shattered Dreams’ that we were creating something really special.”
In de jaren '80 brak Lauper door met hits als "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", "Time After Time" en "True Colors". Gedurende de jaren '80 en '90 oogstte ze lof en succes met albums als 'She's So Unusual' (1984), 'True Colors' (1986), 'A Hat Full Of Stars' (1992) en 'Sisters Of Avalon' (1996). Ze verkocht meer dan 25 miljoen albums, 13 Grammy Award nominaties en won ze 2 Emmy Awards, 2 American Music Awards en 18 MTV Video Music Awards.
Nu is Lauper weer helemaal terug met het nieuwe album ‘Memphis Blues’.
